HOME GAS SUPPLIES- SEVERE WEATHER WARNING NOTICE.

With the onset of this cold snap which is set to stay or get worse, please take note of the following advice which may be of use to your Customer care department: Central Heating systems should be set on constant at a low temperature to prevent it freezing up.

* If you have trace heating on you condensate pipe make sure it is switched  on.
*
(DO NOT SET YOUR HEATING TO ONCE/TWICE A DAY- this includes overnight when it is coldest, if the system switches off & cools it WILL freeze!!!)
* If the boiler will not switch on, it is likely it has frozen up- OPEN UP CUPBOARDS WHERE THE COLD MAIN ENTERS THE PROPERTY (usually under the Kitchen sink) REMOVE ALL ITEMS FROM IN THE CUPBOARDS & PLACE AN ELECTRIC FAN HEATER ANGLED INTO THE CUPBOARD TOWARDS THE PIPE WORK- this may take a few hours to thaw fully).
* If you have a white pipe protruding externally from the rear where the boiler is installed check if this is frozen up, if it is boil some water and allow to cool slightly, pour hot water over the pipe & thaw.
* Make sure that all outside taps are switched off internally at the isolation valve then externally open the tap to empty the pipework from the isolation to the tap, this prevents the tap freezing up and causing a burst.
Please note a property that has frozen up is NOT covered by guarantee and will be charged.
